Have an idea for a new event you'd like to coordinate? Reach out to olepta@gmail.org. We are always looking for fun and new ways to engage our community!
The PTA helps to coordinate volunteers for Stripes to be at the White Tiger Rally (WTR) during the school day. These are typically at the end of the day. The Olson gmail calendar has all of the dates for the WTR.
Sometimes they will do a minute to win it game that is themed with the event (for carnival they will do a mini pop ring toss game). Sing the Olson school song together with everyone in the gym
Tip: For someone planning to use it to move a lot or is shorter, suggest to use a bicycle helmet. It will keep the head in position and easier to control.
Olson plans out these days to be about one per month. They do not always line up with the official dates celebrated by the state or district. Refer to the Olson calendar for specific dates, but they have typically been scheduled for the Friday of the week so the staff can have their celebration.
Commitment: Buy once a month and prepare gift package. Can prep all ahead of time. Deliver to school or individuals as with school bus appreciation on the day or coordinate with someone else to deliver.

Coordinate with Scholastic and staff to bring books into school and run the event with volunteers. This event funds Reading Roars and replenishes library books each year.
Organize items to be requested for Fall and Spring conferences.
Pick a food theme and time – can use old signups for ideas of what was done
Plan for ~40 staff. If meal is on a non-school day, adjust to 25 people
Create SignUpGenius with requested items.
Timing depends on conferences – item drop off can be up to the day of, including previous days
Collect items and set up the Staff Lounge.
Monitor list and buy needed items day of, if needed and not optional. Set up food items at the time listed. Clean up if possible a couple hours after.
Lead an activity or game for a 1 hour to get together with OLE families. Run the idea by the PTA as well as budget. Have fun!
Examples are:
Open GYM
Dodgeball
Board games in the lunch room (pictionary could use the white boards)
Earth day theme - seed balls
Leading a craft in the lunch room (check with PTA for existing supplies)
Movie night in the gym (one night could be geared towards younger grades, one night geared towards older grades)
Prepare freezies/popsicles and bring them to school for all students. Help coordinate volunteers by helping manage the sign-up genius and showing them where to go on the day of the event. There are 22 stations and Mrs. Huber coordinates the rest.
Reach out to and manage communication with participating restaurants. Follow-up on payment after the event and serve as the liason between the restaurant and PTA.
Capture and collect memories throughout the year during the school day and at events, compile the yearbook with Lifetouch, and distribute at end of year.
